Board Unanimously Approves Updated GSP for Submission to the State
The North Kings GSA Board of Directors has approved the updated Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP or Plan) for submission to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) ahead of the January 31 deadline.
A draft of the revised GSP underwent a public review period from October to November 2024, during which feedback was received before final updates were made to the latest version approved by the Board at the January 16th special Board Meeting.
All seven GSAs in the Kings Subbasin, including North Kings, updated their Plans as a highly coordinated effort. The updated Kings Subbasin Plans address the 12 corrective actions identified by DWR in its review of the GSPs submitted in 2022. By addressing these issues, the Kings Subbasin agencies aim to maintain the Plans’ State-approved status and continue implementing sustainable groundwater management driven through locally led efforts.
Along with its approved updated GSPs, the North Kings GSA is also submitting a periodic evaluation to DWR. A periodic evaluation, submitted every five years as a separate document, is a detailed assessment of the GSAs progress in implementing the GSP. This evaluation identifies achievements, ongoing challenges, and outlines strategies for addressing those challenges to ensure the Plan’s objectives are met.
The North Kings GSA’s updated GSP will be available on the GSP page once it is finalized.
