City of Kerman completes Lions Park Recharge Project
The North Kings GSA is excited to announce our member agency, the City of Kerman’s completion of the Lions Park Recharge and Meter Project. A ribbon-cutting event on December 9th will celebrate this significant milestone toward sustainable groundwater use for the community.
The project transforms the City of Kerman’s existing stormwater collection facility into a dual-purpose basin to actively recharge groundwater. The intertie with the Siskiyou Canal enables efficient water delivery to the recharge basin, which is expected to contribute at least 260 acre-feet per year to the aquifer. The final step pictured above, installing a water flow meter at the Lions Park Basin, ensures accurate monitoring of water diverted from Fresno Irrigation District’s Siskiyou Canal for recharge operations.
Recharge facilities like the one in the City of Kerman ensure all member agencies within the North Kings GSA share the load in offsetting groundwater pumping to meet our sustainability goals by 2040.
Join us in celebrating this achievement at the ribbon-cutting event on the morning of Monday, December 9th at 9:00 a.m. at the Lions Park in Kerman for the event!
