Executive Director Chauhan Highlights 2022 Priorities

Executive Director Kassy Chauhan

Executive Director Kassy Chauhan commented to the Board at their January 27 meeting that 2022 will be a busy year. The immediate focus will be revising the Groundwater Sustainability Plan to address comments provided by the Department of Water Resources. With a 180-day deadline looming, the NKGSA Technical Workgroup is already scheduled to meet on February 4.

During this revision process, the North Kings GSA staff will focus on priorities in three major categories to progress toward groundwater sustainability:

  • Construction of current and new infrastructure while exploring grants and other funding to supplement costs.
  • Additional well data gathering and analysis for more accurate monitoring of sustainability indicators.
  • Regular communications and opportunities for stakeholders to engage with the NKGSA Board and staff.

The work planned for 2022 is guided by the North Kings GSP, which is the Board’s roadmap to sustainability. Periodic check ins and revisions will take place over the years. Even as adjustments are made, the Board is committed to meet the goal of groundwater sustainability by 2040.
