Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget adopted by Board
The North Kings GSA Board unanimously approved the Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget. The budget includes projected income of $684,113.20 from interested parties contributions and member agency assessments.
The income will cover expenses including Kings Subbasin coordination efforts, legal fees, professional engineering services, public information/public affairs, and staff costs.
Kings Subbasin coordination is a critical element of Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) implementation since sustainability must be achieved basin-wide rather than by individual Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs). The North Kings GSA is one of seven GSAs in the Kings Subbasin working to mitigate their individual groundwater overdraft responsibilities to ensure subbasin-wide success. Coordination activities include monthly meetings and facilitation, County policy considerations, data management system work, annual reporting to the State, and coordination with the Department of Water Resources.
Professional services includes engineering consultant work to meet the groundwater overdraft mitigation requirement, North Kings GSA-specific reporting for the Annual Report, Groundwater Sustainability Plan comment response, and other staff support items.
