Grower’s Corner: Arshdeep Singh

For generations, Arshdeep Singh’s family has stewarded land for farming. As a local citrus grower and President of the Punjabi American Growers Group (PAGG), for Arshdeep, farming under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) means facing very different circumstances than those faced by earlier generations.

Today, well registration is one action farmers in the North Kings GSA can take to keep local control of groundwater and preserve the Central Valley as a place for agriculture for future generations.

The North Kings GSA is committed to keeping control over groundwater in the hands of local groundwater users, those who understand the needs of the region and can make the best decisions for its future. Well registration is necessary for understanding groundwater conditions, making data-informed decisions, and planning for long-term sustainability.

To support growers, the North Kings GSA has helpful information on well registration and has a dedicated support team ready to answer questions. Resources are available in English, Punjabi, Hmong, and Spanish. Punjabi growers can also reach out the Punjabi American Growers Group for assistance with well registration.
