New webpage for growers includes irrigation and on-farm recharge resources and tools
We recently launched a webpage designed specifically with our growers in mind. Visit the webpage now to view the Stop Before You Convert Irrigation Flyer, discover how suitable your fields may be for groundwater recharge, and read up on on-farm recharge trials and studies.
It is true that the North Kings GSA is working on behalf of growers to implement groundwater solutions, like coordinating with FID to ensure surface water supplies are optimally managed to reduce pumping and recharge groundwater. But as we move toward the 2040 SGMA deadline for sustainability, individual growers play an important role in the process. For now, it can be as simple as:
- Maintaining flood irrigation systems when converting to drip irrigation
- Discovering your soil’s potential for on-farm recharge suitability using mapping tools available one new grower webpage

Find helpful resources and tools curated specifically for growers. Tools include The Soil Agricultural Groundwater Banking Index (SAGBI), web-based map to help identify groundwater recharge suitability based on five major factors: deep percolation, root zone residence time, topography, chemical limitations and soil surface condition.
