North Kings GSA participates in subbasin-wide outreach effort to promote groundwater recharge projects
The North Kings GSA joined with the six Kings Subbasin GSA’s on a campaign to share their collective story of determination on groundwater project development. Since the seven agencies submitted their Groundwater Sustainability Plans in January 2020, they have invested in 600 acres of prime groundwater recharge land representing 15 dedicated basins constructed or under development.
The additional water infrastructure is anticipated to provide over 15,000 acre feet of recharge per year on average, directly benefitting groundwater levels for communities and ag lands in the Kings Subbasin region.
Details on the 15 recharge projects can be explored by clicking the project pins on an interactive map developed within the multimedia storymap. The storymap also includes images of constructed basins and a background on SGMA and groundwater in the area.
A video was produced and included in the story highlighting diverse funding streams and collaboration as key tools for turning plans into action.
Our landowners and stakeholders are encouraged to view and share these outreach materials, including an additional infographic and map, to highlight the work of our region to reach sustainability together.
