Seat 1 – Jerry Prieto, Jr., Chair

Fresno Irrigation District

Jerry Prieto, Jr. was appointed to the North Kings Groundwater Sustainability Agency (NKGSA) Board in November 2016. Currently Mr. Prieto serves as its Chairman. Chairman Prieto represents the Fresno Irrigation District and serves as its Board’s Vice-President.

Chairman Prieto was raised in Corcoran CA where he worked on his family’s small farm, as well as several large farms in the area. He is a graduate from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science. His thirty-five year career with Fresno County includes twenty-five years of government budget experience, including general and enterprise funds, working with the Department of Agriculture, four years as a Senior Personal Analyst with the Personnel Department where he supervised labor relations and recruitment and exam programs. Chairman Prieto also worked six years as Resources Manager with the Public Works and Planning Department where he administered Special Districts and the County’s American Avenue Regional Landfill, Coalinga Landfill, and several closed landfills. Chairman Prieto retired in 2008 from his position as the Fresno County Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer of Weights and Measures.

He is a graduate of Leadership Fresno and the San Joaquin Valley Political Academy. He also received the 2008 Fresno County Farm Bureau “Distinguished Service Award” and the 2008 Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce “Agriculturist of the Year” award. Director Prieto is a member of the Fresno County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Chairman Prieto raises cattle, watermelons, and pumpkins on his farm.
