Central Basin Recharge Project
Project Overview
Fresno Irrigation District’s Central Basin Recharge Project was completed in 2021 and includes 90 acres of recharge basins at three locations:
- 40-acre site at East & Malaga avenues
- 14-acre site at Orange and Lincoln avenues
- 36-acre site at Central & Hughes avenues
In addition to their role in groundwater recharge, these basins play an important role in diverting flood flows during wet years. Collectively, these basins provide an annual recharge benefit of roughly 2,600 acre-feet, expanding the District’s water supply while advancing local sustainability efforts.
