Nielsen Recharge Facility

Project Overview

The City of Fresno constructed the Nielsen Recharge Facility in 2017. This facility diverts water from Fresno Irrigation District’s Herndon Canal for groundwater recharge, playing a critical role in expanding the City’s recharge capabilities. With an average annual recharge benefit of approximately 3,500 acre-feet, the Nielsen Recharge Facility helps offset groundwater pumping in the region and supports local sustainability efforts.

Project Cost

The Nielsen Recharge Facility was approximately $3.6 million to construct.
