Savory Groundwater Recharge Basin
Project Overview
The Savory Groundwater Recharge Basin is one of many projects contributing to the Fresno Irrigation District’s sustainability goals. Completed in 2022 as part of FID’s initiative to expand its groundwater recharge network, this basin replenished the groundwater aquifer with an estimated 900 acre-feet of water a year.
Beyond supporting groundwater sustainability, the Savory Recharge Basin delivers direct benefits to the nearby Shady Lakes Manufactured Housing Community, a disadvantaged community (DAC), and private well users in the area. By increasing water quality and quantity, the basin ensures a reliable water supply for those that rely solely on groundwater.
