Recap: Well Registration Workshops & Events
With the new well registration requirement going into effect on May 1, 2025, the North Kings GSA expanded its outreach efforts to make sure well owners across the region are informed and prepared. Over the past several months, the GSA has been featured in local press, participated in radio interviews, shared updates across multiple online channels, put up road signage throughout the community, and sent mail notices to all affected landowners in an effort to reach every well owner.
Reaching Well Owners in Person
A key part of this effort has been hosting in-person well registration workshops. These events have been an important way to meet well owners where they are, answer questions directly, and offer hands-on help with completing the registration process. Across four workshops and two community events, the GSA was able to connect with nearly 250 domestic well owners and growers throughout the region.
Each workshop opened with a presentation by Executive Officer Chauhan, covering the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), the importance of well registration, and what the new requirement means for local groundwater management.
Grape, Nut, and Tree Fruit Expo – Nov. 14
The support team hosted a registration booth at the Grape, Nut, and Tree Fruit Expo, assisting growers and domestic well owners with on-site registration. On this day more than 150 wells were registered.

Clovis Workshop – Nov. 12
Our final and most well-attended workshop drew approximately 90 participants. Well owners received answers to their questions and had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with Executive Officer Kassy Chauhan. Board Chair Jerry Prieto, Board Member Kyle Moeller, Board Member and Fresno County Supervisor Brian Pacheco, and Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig were also in attendance.

Fresno Irrigation District Workshop – Nov. 6
Held at the Fresno Irrigation District office, this workshop welcomed approximately 40 participants. Many arrived early to ensure their questions were addressed and to receive assistance with completing their well registrations.
Easton Workshop – Oct. 29
The Easton workshop was well attended, drawing roughly 60 participants and resulting in an estimated 75 to 100 domestic wells being registered in a single day.
Growing Together Small Farms Conference – Sept. 26
This was the Agency’s first time participating in the Growing Together Small Farms Conference. Support staff engaged with both legacy and first-generation growers, providing information about the GSA and answering questions about well registration.
Kerman Workshop – Aug. 27
Our first workshop of the season brought in 33 attendees, all of whom received direct assistance with completing their well registrations.
