Well Registration Deadline Extended by Board of Directors Following Strong Response
The North Kings GSA Board of Directors approved an extension of the well registration deadline to January 30, 2026, to give well owners more time to complete the requirement. The Board made the decision at the December 10th special board meeting after receiving a report summarizing the strong participation from well owners so far; nearly 6,000 wells were registered by the original November 30th deadline. There was a high volume of registrations in the weeks leading up to the deadline, and the new grace period is intended to carry that momentum forward and allow remaining well owners to get registered without penalty.
The extended deadline gives well owners additional time to register without paying the $100 late fee per well. Starting February 1, 2026, a late registration fee of $100 per well will be collected. All who have not yet completed the process are encouraged to take advantage of the grace period and avoid unnecessary late registration fees. The support team remains available to answer questions and help guide well owners through the process on Subcurrent.
Registering wells is one of the most important steps well owners can take to protect the long-term availability of groundwater in the region. The North Kings GSA can better manage this shared resource when there is accurate information about the wells that rely on it. By completing your registration, you help ensure the right management strategies are in place to protect groundwater for your home and land.
The Board of Directors and Executive Officer, Kassy Chauhan, extended a heartfelt thank you to those well owners who already registered for their cooperation and commitment to supporting locally led efforts to implement the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).
