Well Registration Enforcement Policy Moving Forward
With the well registration program shifting to enforcement, the North Kings GSA is continuing to work through the development of a Well Registration Enforcement Policy with the technical workgroup and Advisory Committee. The policy establishes a clear process for identifying unregistered wells, notifying landowners, providing opportunities to complete registration, and taking further enforcement action when necessary.
The Board will consider adoption of the policy in September 2026, either at a special board meeting to be held on September 3, or at its regular board meeting on September 24. If approved, the North Kings GSA will begin mailing formal notices to landowners with identified unregistered wells starting in October 2026. Landowners who have not yet registered their groundwater extraction facilities are encouraged to do so now to avoid future enforcement. Landowners who have already registered wells, or would like to confirm an existing registration, can log into their Subcurrent account at https://subcurrentapp.com/ to review registered well information on their dashboard.
