Well Registrations Climb as November 30 Deadline Approaches

Well registration numbers continue to rise as the November 30 deadline draws near, with over 1200 wells registered so far. Through registration, the North Kings GSA aims to better its understanding of where wells are located and how many there are in the region – information that supports groundwater management and demonstrates to the State that SGMA is being effectively implemented at the local level.

Expanded Outreach and Local Events

The GSA has expanded its outreach to reach as many well owners as possible. Recent activities included hosting an in-person workshop in Kerman, where 58 new wells were registered, and participating in the African American Farmers of California event at Fresno State to connect with small farmers and landowners.

New road signage is also being placed throughout the area to remind well owners of the registration deadline and provide information on where to register. The GSA continues to offer in-person assistance at events and workshops to help landowners complete their registrations on the spot.

Upcoming Workshops and Continued Support

More opportunities to register in person are scheduled in the coming weeks, with workshops planned in Easton, Fresno, and Clovis. The GSA will also participate in upcoming community events, including the Grape, Nut and Tree Fruit Expo on November 14.

To date, 53% of registered wells are agricultural, 37% come from domestic wells, while the remaining registrations are a mix of other well types. This growing participation shows the strong engagement of both the ag community and rural residents in local groundwater sustainability efforts.

As the deadline approaches, the GSA encourages anyone who has not yet registered their well to do so soon—either online or at one of the upcoming workshops. Each registration helps strengthen the region’s understanding of groundwater conditions and ensures that our groundwater is managed locally.
